Photoaday124: Oscillatoria spp. This is a genus of filamentous cyanobacteria. Each filament has a trichome which oscillates at its tip, hence the name oscillatoria. I sense the folks at Ikea were drawing from this type of nature when they made this and a bunch of their lighting products. More on that later though…Speaking of that though, this group is photosynthetic. They actually contribute to an estimated 20-30% of Earth’s photosynthetic production. That’s a lot of energy. Shame we can’t generate some kind of bio-electricity through their use.
